Akiko Sasaki is also an accomplished kotoist. Mrs. Sasaki performs various styles of music from traditional Japanese folk/court music, to contemporary composers, to improvising with musicians of New York City's avant-garde scene. She has appeared at venues such as Roulette, The Stone, Rubin Museum, Chelsea Museum, I-Beam, The Brooklyn Botanical Garden, New York Botanical Garden, and Stony Brook University. Sasaki can often be heard in concert with her instructor, Masayo Ishigure and the Miyabi Koto and Shamisen Ensemble. She has premiered new compositions for koto by composers Miya Masaoka and Seungmin-Cha.
